The Great Big Yes!
Loved to see fellow Drug Buddy Evan Dando in town again, this time by his lonesome. Just him and his acoustic guitar(and whatever else he ingested) at the South Paw in Brooklyn on a cold, snowy December pre-holiday night. Felt like a weird night, just with the weather, the holidays, less people and cars on the street, late, etc etc. So anyway, made way to the place via subway as usual and was nice and simple to get to, Couple of cold blocks to walk from el tren. The wifebot and I arrived at the spot around 11pm and the opener, Leona Naess, was just about finishing her set. She played an awesome Cure cover song and sounded really good and crisp. I would recommend checking her out, although she sounds a bit like a lot of other recent female singers we have heard on radio, commercials etc, but really nice voice nonetheless.

So on to our boy Evan. He came out wearing a hard hat and his acoustic guitar around midnight and started a nice marathon of classics, covers, rarities and nothing from the new album, which is awesome so kinda sucked. Great show though, no talking as usual from him, just whizzin through the set but somehow making it all work, all the while appearing a bit intoxicated on some hard stuff but its hard to tell with him, to each his own, he plays good music and is no frills, what you see is what you get and for 17$, cant beat it. The highlight of the set has to be the cover of Christina Aguilerea's "Beautiful". Yep, that song. Sick, he totally Dandoized it and its perfect. Supposedly he and or the lemonheads are putting out a new cover album and that should be on it. It better be on it, I wish I could get a bootleg of last nights show. ARGGHHHH, this is the effin intergoddamnweb and i cant download a show the night after but I can get the weather in crappy Afwannastan in 2 secs.
