Ahhh, hello der!

They called up a girl from the audience to sing the talking/background part on Butterflies and she nailed it.

Smashing Pumpkins United Palace Theatre Nov. 7, 2008

Oh Billy.
Here we go again. You have decided to grace us with your presence once again. This time round it was uptown baby, at the United Palace Theatre. Yep, that same cool theatre where EdVed played a few months earlier. Anyhow, this time it was the mighty SP's turn. This was the 2nd night of a 2 night set. Fortunately, I missed the first night, and I say fortunately because it was pretty much the same setlist as the August warmup tour, Douche Bag is back! But this was the 2nd night and he promised to mix it up and he did. The concert took off with a bangin Ava Adore. He then proceeded to lay down amazing track after amazing track, up until about after Gossamer, where the noise starts. Such a great setlist otherwise and another decent night with Billy. I say decent because the energy gets drained from most of the crowd when he goes on his tirades, with his mouth and guitar. Setlist below :

Matthew Sweet @ Webster Hall - Oct. 28, 2008

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!
Yep. Matthew Sweet. Still around, cranking out good tunes! This time around he played on a cold Tuesday Fall night at Webster Hall. The Bridges, Matthew's project i think(produced?), which consists of siblings and a cousin, opened before Matthew and Co. took the stage sometime after 9. He ripped into stuff from his newest album "Sunshine Lies" and opened with "Time Machine" and ran into others like "Room To Rock", "Byrdgirl","Feel Fear","Flying" and "Sunshine Lies"(w/ The Bridges). He proceeded then to play a great setlist of hits that sounded great and crisp. The guitarist rippin all of Matthews' solos is sick! Definite good show, good price, good venue, all good baby! Other songs he played : Girlfriend, Divine Intervention, The Ugly Truth, Someone to Pull the Trigger, We're the same, and so many other great songs!

Art + Action = Obama 08 - The Showroom NYC - Oct. 17, 2008

Unless you have been living in a cave in Aff-Wan-A-Stan then you probably know about Obamania.(I can think of someone living in a cave who is aware of his popularity, he who shall remain nameless). So, the Obama Art train rolled into my backyard last week in the form of a show which consisted of custom designed Obama action figures by various artist at The Showroom NYC at Toy Tokyo.

The figures were for sale and proceeds went to the Obama campaign. The prices were reasonable and those that didnt sell will be auctioned off. There was quite a few people there and the line to get in was long but moved quickly. They had free beer and wine as well as a DJ, which was a nice touch. The obama figure below is my favorite, the White House was made of paper!
